Paul S @PManRager Oct 28, 2026 The first Mortal Kombat movie wasn't great, but it was still fun to watch and beautifully campy. The second time around, anything that made the first one watchable was completely taken out of the equation. Horrible visuals, poor storytelling, bad character adaptations, and cringe-worthy acting make this movie torture to sit through. Sometimes this movie could be enjoyably bad, and there were some moments that made me laugh, but it wasn't enough to make me actually like this movie. Stop at the first one, and pretend this one doesn't exist, because this was a waste of a movie night. See more Vinicius M @Vini_Monteiro Aug 17, 2026 This sequel destroys the promising foundation of the 1995 original due to a rushed, sloppy production. The abrupt recasting of almost the entire main cast ruins the original's group dynamic, turning iconic characters into hollow versions of themselves. Killing fan-favorite Johnny Cage in the first five minutes for cheap shock value perfectly illustrates the script's disrespect for the franchise. Under new direction, the film suffers from terrible technical execution. The epic atmosphere is replaced by cheap sets, and the chaotic plot merely crams in underdeveloped fighters for marketing purposes. Furthermore, the visceral martial arts choreography is ruined by floaty wire-work, and the CGI is embarrassingly outdated. Despite being a disaster, the film can still be enjoyed as a "so bad it's good" experience, offering unintentional comedy and a nostalgic techno soundtrack. I never anticipated that someone would take the movie and go, 'it's good enough'. We weren't done. We never finished that movie. But the studio said, 'we don't care'. We sacrificed quality for business." Somes it up perfectly this film was so bad that there wouldn't be an attempt at another theatrical MK movie until 24 years later. Yeah, really not much to say here, we all know how awful this one is. Only reason it gets a full star and not just half of one is because for some reason, it won’t let me click half a star. Strange. But yeah, terrible (I mean TERRIBLE) effects, poor acting, awful story, the costumes look like something kids would where to go trick or treating, and it has possibly the worst line-delivery in cinematic history- “Now YOU… will die!” This movie sucks.
