The movie is a surrealist dreamscape in the form of a Hollywood film noir, and the less sense it makes, the more we can't stop watching it... This is a movie to surrender yourself to. Go to Full Review Gene Seymour Newsday Jul 11, 2023

More than any Lynch movie since Eraserhead, this noir-ish Hollywood saga has the shadowy texture and pliant foundation of a dream. Or a nightmare. Or both. Go to Full Review Kirk Honeycutt The Hollywood Reporter Jul 11, 2023

Equal parts terrifying and heartbreaking, Lynch’s 9th feature film combines every element that made his previous works cult sensations. Go to Full Review André Didyme-Dôme Rolling Stone en Español Oct 1, 2026

Probably not — otherwise it would be in the AFI Top 5. I suspect that Betty, Diane, Rita, and Camilla are all the same person, and she meets her fate. If you like nonlinear stuff like this, consider The Unchained Book. See more SIMAS C @simas_eros Oct 23, 2026 By far my favorite David Lynch film. Dense, surreal, mysterious, and provocative, it possesses all the hallmarks of a great movie, while functioning as a complex web of metaphors that demand reflection, interpretation, and close attention from the audience. It’s a film that captivated me when it first left me bewildered, and completely floored me once I finally deciphered it on the tenth viewing. Extraordinary in every sense. See more Read all reviews
