No matter its contemporary setting, [My Fake Boyfriend] feels like a throwback to an earlier era of Drew/Sandra/Julia-led vehicles. For better and for worse.

To set expectations, it’s best to think of “My Fake Boyfriend” as two movies.

An accomplished and beautifully judged performance by Australian Keiynan Lonsdale elevates this preposterous romantic comedy, which could easily have been a complete turkey.

Gay people deserve cheesy romcoms, too. It’s very rare that we see films like this, ones with recognizable stars, raunchy humor, and eye candy to spare; it’s even more rare that both romantic leads are men of color.

The cast of My Fake Boyfriend is an energetic and likable bunch and their collective charm and enthusiasm makes this far more watchable than it has any right to be.

If you’re willing to overlook logic and reality, then this is a hilarious and well-written comedy. But if you’re not… maybe watch some mumblecore.

This is a very funny romantic comedy that made me smile. I like this movie. Keiylan, dylan and samer playing their characters was absolutely the stand outs.

My fake boyfriend I feel this movie could have been better, way way better, because the entire story can best be described as Incredulous. The characters are mostly one dimensional, and this isn't on the cast but on the plot they have to work with. It's light-hearted and easygoing if you can forget how Incredulous the premise of the movie is. If you don't watch My Fake Boyfriend, I have to say, you're missing out on nothing.

You've got to be kidding me ! Sure, there are some hot bodies, but … come on ! … you can see more (and, dare I say better …) hot bodies on some of the best (or in this case … mediocre) porn channels that we all know how to get too. This is a DISASTROUS script with some of the most nauseous moments attributed to ‘old tricks' to get viewers to "hold on" for that NEXT revealing moment. The jokes are old and boring … and I cannot believe that Cole did not strong-arm his brother (Dylan) from doing this ‘catastrophe' Dylan, like his brother Cole, is so endearing. I'm just sorry that he doesn't have more self-respect for his wonderful skills … and his natural raw talent and timing! Suffice to say … in the name of serious (or … possibly, comedic) film production … please throw this one on the fire and do not waste your precious time. We'll rack this Film up to a weak decision moment and look for the next Sprout Brother Film … together of apart! Go Sprouts !
