There is almost no plot, as such, but Altman's command is so sure that the two-and-a-half hours race by. And more than any recent film, this one repays a second visit, so subtly and carefully has Altman constructed his multiple plots.

seems like the story is going somewhere, but it takes its sweet time. i'd find another movie, if you are looking for suspence. it's over-rated.

Robert Altman’s magnum opus at his most defining by humanistic visionary scope is considerably average when his signature loose grasp on the thematically ranging characterization gets livened by prompted authenticity amongst the ensemble cast to flex their talents onto the country music platform with disjointed yet engaging results that attributes to neatly satirizing the nation in worthwhile ponder. For the first 90 minutes, Nashville is a masterpiece with great performance, lots of humor, and a sense of what it was like living in American in the 70s. But it peters out by the end. It has a few too many songs, and a climatic scene that's extremely unrealistic.
