Critics Consensus

Taking an icky conceit and twisting it to deviously crowd-pleasing ends, Obsession is dauntingly disturbing while also skillfully amusing and thrilling.

Audience Says

We’re obsessed with Inde Navarrette in Obsession, a creatively grotesque -- and at times darkly funny -- horror film that cements Curry Barker as a filmmaker to watch.

Obsession desperately wants to be a modern film, but can’t do anything more bold than gesturing to the bleakness and incessant discourse this reality is mired in. Go to Full Review

Barker doesn’t quite stick the landing, and “Obsession” rolls rather than races to a stop in its very final scenes. It still leaves audiences with enough for boyfriends and girlfriends to argue over on the drive home or on the way to splitting up. Go to Full Review

There are far scarier movies than Obsession. However, the movie definitely succeeds at being unnerving, even if it isn’t the type of story that will strike a deep fear within you. Go to Full Review

An ugly, mean-spirited piece of work whose aspirations of feminism are undercut by its dogged unwillingness to grant its women any humanity at all. Go to Full Review

The movie did such a good job of keeping the tension insanely high through the whole story and kinda bringing it full circle with the ending. Go to Full Review

Erick 22m A new horror classic, definitely a 10/10 in all aspects See more Tim N 28m Made me so uncomfortable lol See more Daniel 45m Really good horror movie. Creative. Also could've been better without some "plot twists." It was disturbing and brutal to the extent I compare it to the Bone Temple movie from a few months back though obviously a totally different type of story. See more Benito 1h 10/10 perfect performances. See more Hannah Elysia 2h Amazing movie great visuals and the lack of A list actors gives it a real sense of believability. This movie leaves you thinking about it and discovering more even after you go home. Very fun to dissect! It was disturbing and actually scary, which is rare for horror movies sadly, and it has a very signature and unique feeling throughout the film. Would recommend ! See more Brendan 3h The suspense and acting were Phenomenal, but wish the ending had a better storyline and explanation. See more Read all reviews
