If Over the Hedge aims solely to entertain, it does so in a way that's mildly amusing but mostly hackneyed. If it aims to instruct, it weakens its own argument with the plethora of product tie-ins.

This is an incredible movie! Me and my Skibiti rizzer gang and some nerdy band kids tried to make a satanic ritual, that’s the reason why I brought the band kids so that they make spooky music while me and the Rizzlers chant gibberish while wearing masks of all the characters in the movie, like RJ, Verne, Hammy (or as I like to call him, nutflash), who can run fast like the flash and nuts fast, Stella, Ozzie, Gladys, and the creepy discord mod exterminator. We did it so that me, and only me can get the super duper ultra rare, stain my underwear Over the Hedge blueberry holographic collectors edition DVD. The reason why it’s only me is because I’m too poor to buy streaming service and only have a PS3 to play Blueberry DVDs on. Anyways, Satan showed up and instead of his greedy @ss actually giving me the DVD, he killed me and all of my rizzer buddies and now I’m in hell writing this review on my Nintendo DS on the Nintendo DS browser game I bought off of craigslist

Loved it 20 years ago and still love it now! STELLAAAAAAA!!!! While it may not be as great as some of DreamWorks’ other movies like Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, or Kung Fu Panda, it’s still a good time. The animation is still GORGEOUS by today’s standards, the voice acting is SPOT ON, and the humor genuinely holds up, with jokes that still land no matter how many times you rewatch it. The songs by Ben Folds still give me the feels every time. Definitely a 2000s animation classic. Rest in peace, Catherine O’Hara. 😢
