When former CIA agent Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) hampers an IRA terrorist attack in London, he kills one of the terrorists. The dead man's brother, another member of the group named Sean Miller (Sean Bean), is arrested but quickly escapes. Vowing revenge against Ryan, Miller travels to the United States, where he forces Ryan's wife (Anne Archer) and daughter (Thora Birch) into a car accident that badly injures them. This convinces Ryan to rejoin the CIA in order to track down Miller.

Patriot Games doesn't win many points for verisimilitude, but some entertaining set pieces -- and Harrison Ford in the central role -- more than compensate for its flaws.

There's not an ounce of plausibility to be found anywhere in the plot, or among its cast of characters, but it does have its moments. Australian director Phillip Noyce is a wild man with action scenes, and Ford remains [appealing].

Greetings from Lithuania. "Patriot Games" (1992) is a very good thriller starring Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan - a very well know character as of 2026. When revisiting this movie in 2026 after many years on amazing looking 4K UHD I've enjoyed this movie more than I first time saw it many years ago. This is a tense thriller, expertly staged by Phillip Noyce. Music by James Howard was very good one - cues from this previous movies are in this score as well. Acting was very good by everyone involved. The ending is a bit generic, but by the time it arrives I was completely satisfied by the entire journey. Overall, "Patriot Games" isn't my favorite Jack Ryan movie - the crown belongs to "Hunt For Red October". Still this is a very good film that I've enjoyed quite a lot.

Harrison Ford is the best Jack Ryan and Sean Bean is always a great villain. The latter’s presence here certainly for shadows his role as Alec Trevelin in GoldenEye. I dig the way this heaters between a political thriller and a subtle action film.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

Classic 1990s post Cold War action junk. New villains needed so enter the nearly IRA. Can’t have proper IRA since many Americans like them. Ford to the rescue of Royalty, etc.
