After Santa Barbara Police Chief Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter is ambushed on the job and left for dead, he begins to see impossible happenings around his recovery clinic. Shawn and Gus leave San Francisco to be with Lassie and find themselves unwelcome in their old stomping grounds as they secretly untangle a twisted case without the benefit of the police, their loved ones or the quality sourdough bakeries of the Bay Area. You won't find a funnier show that's always fresh and original despite so many seasons and movies. Gus and Shawn have so much chemistry which makes it that much better, the whole cast do.

You can definitely tell the characters grew up between films. And by grow up I mean more mature. They understand more of who they are. It’s sad to hear to Carlton. Somehow in the midst of what happened to him he still managed to do a good job.

This movie's great ratings must comes from fans of the show. Although I did see a few episodes, I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I did appreciate it. Unfortunately, the style of humor that the show relied on doesn't have the staying power for something as long as a movie. 45 minutes? Sure. At that length, it's cute and fun. 90 minutes? Nope. Too long. It wears out its welcome.
