With [REC] 4, Balaguer returns to the main storyline and to the kind of claustrophobic setting where [REC] really thrives, ditching the slapstick splatter of [REC] 3 without sacrificing zombie gore.

By completely ditching the found-footage concept, it remains an underwhelming sequel to the previous rec movies. However, in comparison to rec 3, this would rank a bit higher since I quite liked the cinematics and visual effects in this film, and they also brought back Angela Vidal. I'm glad that the rec films ended here to spare the series from further criticism, since rec 1 and rec 2 were already pretty promising, with rec 1 being highly regarded in the movie community.
