In one of his best performances, Cushing plays on the ambiguity of the central character, so that the Baron becomes a kind of Wildean martyr, alternating between noble defiance and detached cruelty.

The ability to synthesize makes 'The Revenge of Frankenstein' put the most interesting suggestions on the table. [Full Review in Spanish]

Vivid colour and close-ups reached the lowest level to which we were obliged to crawl; but to protest against such films, in these days of the boom in horror, is like trying to put out lightning with a candle-snuffer.

One of the most sophisticated and intelligent follow-ups to a horror classic that has ever been put to film.

...trods off the established path of Frankenstein tropes and eschews routine horrifics by putting a lens on its people rather than on an expected cereal-box monster.

Divorced somewhat of the source material's greatest signifiers, The Revenge of Frankenstein lives to thrill all the same.

Cushing was fine as usual but I found the movie dull compared to other Hammer Frankenstein movies. Not one of Terence Fisher's best Hammer movies but an okay watch at best. Disappointing.

Probably the best film in the hammer Frankenstein series that elevates what was in the superb Curse of Frankenstein to another level with Peter Cushing’s finest hour as the mad Doctor

Love these old atmospheric British made films. And Peter Cushing is great as always and absolutely perfect for this role. I remember watching these old films when I was a kid with my chemistry and dissection kits. Great memories.

I wondered how they were going to make a sequel to The Curse of Frankenstein, considering how that movie ended, but The Revenge of Frankenstein somehow pulled it off. This story is similar, but it’s an entirely different creature than the original film. Peter Cushing, as to be expected, gives a fantastic performance, even if the other characters surrounding him are mostly one-dimensional. And despite the fact that it’s only a few minutes longer than the first film, the plot plods along at a much slower pace. Nevertheless, The Revenge of Frankenstein is another solid entry in this Hammer Film series.
