Hong Kong policeman Keung (Jackie Chan) arrives in New York for the wedding of his uncle Bill (Bill Tung), a grocer who recently sold his Bronx store to the fetching Elaine (Anita Mui). After a biker gang bursts into the store to wreak havoc, Keung springs into action, giving up his vacation to defend the weak and protect the innocent with his extraordinary martial arts skills. As Keung investigates local gangs, he learns more about a criminal syndicate that needs to be brought to justice.

Watching Jackie Chan in full command of his craft is pure joy. In Rumble in the Bronx, every fight feels like a perfectly choreographed dance; it's like watching a musical without the music, built entirely around his rhythm, grace, and sense of play. The story is simple and mostly just serves as a setup for the action, but that’s not really a problem because the main draw is the stunt work and fight choreography. Jackie Chan brings his usual mix of physical comedy, creativity, and impressive practical stunts, which keep the film entertaining even when the plot is thin. The Bronx setting gives it a bit of a unique fish-out-of-water energy, and there’s a fun, energetic pace throughout most of the runtime. Some of the dubbing and acting outside of the action scenes can feel a little rough, but it doesn’t drag the movie down too much. Overall, it’s a very enjoyable action comedy that delivers exactly what it promises, even if it’s not especially deep or polished. I’d call it a strong, entertaining martial arts romp with great stunt work from Jackie Chan, earning a 7/10.
