A missionary family travels to rural Ecuador to convert the indigenous population. All is going well until their son ventures into a forbidden local cave and comes back with a demonic spirit in tow. Candice (Sarah Canning) believes that an exorcism in the Catholic tradition will free her boy from the evil bonds that bind him. The cumulative sense is that a better horror movie would find ways to needle its characters, making a real mockery of their devotion and faith. In that sense, Shaman unfolds with all the terror of a Sunday school lesson.

Shaman (2025) The Story is not Good (12,039 – 04 Nov 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) The Christian missionaries Candice (Sara Canning) and Joel (Daniel Gillies) and their son Elliot (Jett Klyne) live in a remote Indian village in Ecuador converting the residents into the Christianism. One day, Elliot is playing with his airplane with two local boys, and the airplane falls into a cave. The boys tell him that he must not enter the forbidden cave, but Elliot goes there and finds his airplane but loses his watch. Soon he becomes ill and changes his behavior towards his parents. The alcoholic Father Meyer (Alejandro Fajardo), who was a medical doctor in the past, visits the family and soon, together with Candice, they realize that Elliot needs an exorcism. But the local Shaman (Humberto Morales) says that the evil spirit that possessed Elliot will not leave him. “Shaman” (2025) is another movie of possession and exorcism in the interior of Ecuador. Unfortunately, the story is not good, especially the conclusion. I am not a religious man, but recognize that Christian people, especially those with missionary work, would never sacrifice a boy to save their son back. There are nice things here, but they are so overshadowed by a seat-of-the-pants cliché script that they resonate little. It's just another black blood dripping from the eyes horror movie.
