Bret M @BretM-3 2d As of writing this review, Signs is my favorite movie from M. Night Shyamalan. I absolutely adore this movie. For starters, Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix are fantastic here. They really sell the fear their characters are feeling in the face of everything going on, but you can also tell they’re trying to hide it for the children’s sake. Great performances from them. But the absolute best part of this movie is the twist at the end. But what I really love about it is that it’s less of a twist and more of revelation. A realization that there are no coincidences, everything happens for a reason, and that realization helps them inevitably defeat the alien in their house. And I think that is a great ending to this story. So overall, I love this movie. All the alien and sci-fi stuff is great, the 2 leading performances in the film are incredible, and the underlying themes of faith and miracles add a lot to an already great story. I cannot recommend this movie enough! See more Abiel G @Abiel2009 4d Shyamalan’s Signs shows a great disconnection and connection with staring actor Mel Gibson playing Graham and his faith. The character development was impeccable from Grahams hatred towards God to his faith rebuilt even stronger. From Merrill’s annoyance in always swinging full force to him facing an alien head on. Seeing grahams connection being severed then rebuilt was amazing. It went from his Wife dying in an accident and him living in anger and sadness, to him seeing the bigger picture in why all of that was done even saving his family in the process. The ambiance and the setting gave such a good eerie feeling throughout the whole movie. This movie is an amazing seat clenched, brain twisting thriller and I highly recommend this to be in you list of movies this Halloween. What I enjoyed the most was the story isn’t only about aliens in aiding earth but also a deep personal story. From questioning faith to the loss of Mel Gibson wife. Mel Gibson gives a strong performance in the movie as a father that was struggling with his beliefs. Overall signs is not a typical alien invasion movie but a heart felt kind of thriller where its a mix of so many emotions. I would personally call it a 5 out of 5 star movie. It was full of suspense and excitement, full of humor and emotion. See more M F @Flores_flower 5d I watched Signs as a kid and didn’t really put much thought into it at the time other then that is was a good movie, but re-watching it now that I’m older I can see more of what director is trying to convey into the film and what they want us, the audience to see and feel, because the film is so in depth with the emotions of the the film, the film communicated to about this father who’s faith is damaged by the loss of his wife, after years of devotion, and is now just trying to do his best for his children, and with the help of his brother, and now more then ever to get through this scary world-wide invasion that ends up challenging his already fragile faith, and in the end his wife’s last words start make sense and he finally starts to SEE all the connections around him and his family that saves them, and by the end if the film he realizes that faith has been his strength and rekindled that part of him and returns to the church. There are lots to think about in this movie. See more Celerino L @377_class 5d The Sci-fi, film staring Mel Gibson, had silly parts that get out giggles from even the most serious people. The Main character Graham and Merrill were the ones that gave the realisticness feel. While the two younger characters Morgan and boo were the ones who made the movie silly. At the end of the movie Grahams perspective about his faith changes, during the begging and middle of the movie he was very resentful about god.But when he encountered a miracle with Morgan his eyes opened and he saw…. The music and the made the movie even more dramatic than it really was. I would recommend this movie for the reason that every scene is so unpredictable. See more Read all reviews
