After losing his job and wife, and spending time in a mental institution, Pat Solatano winds up living with his parents. He wants to rebuild his life and reunite with his wife, but his parents would be happy if he just shared their obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a different take on love and lost love with the leading man and lady both suffering from mental illness and marriage trauma. The plot got silly and nonsensical at times, but in the end it proved a tearjerker.

it got so much praise from people with clearly zero fucking experience on the subject matter, written by someone with someone with no understanding of the subject matter, and made for people with no concept of the subject matter. its bad and poorly written with utterly idiotic characters. there is no redeeming quality aside from the star casting of bradley cooper and jennifer lawrence, no fault on them for working with so little actual value to play off. It is so corny and heavy handed as to be insulting. save your time - skip this film.

There’s much to love in Silver Linings Playbook, from its excellent performances to its pathos and humor. The film is definitely a crowd-pleaser, even though it suffers a few formulaic moments along the way. And if you’re a big Philadelphia Eagles fan then you’ll probably get even more of a kick out of Silver Linings Playbook.
