May 28, 2019 I was bitterly disappointed: It seemed to have had all the elements of a good movie, but then it went awry. It ended in a flurry of semi-homophobic vignettes. It appeared to me that they might not have had the time nor money to finish it properly. Sad. See more

Jun 19, 2018 A good film, probably only real criticism is that the main character seems to be taking his top off too much. Whilst that's not a problem, it seems to be at odds with the rest of the film. See more

Jul 1, 2015 yes he is gorgeous and lots of other gorgeous men in this story. It dare not speak its name, he can't talk about, his girlfriend can't talk about it, desires repressed so much it is almost suffocating as he says when he fails to make the signal. So true. See more

May 16, 2015 Boaz is a man of nuanced sexuality. Both women and men are very much attracted to him. He has it all---intelligent, physically very beautiful, but highly conflicted. The film must be understood in the context of the 1980.s, which were far less liberated than today. There is no internet, emai, or texting. It is still the age of the typed love letter, which he receives from an unknown man who secretly love him. I would say Boaz is a primarily heterosexual man who has some attraction other men. The film ends on a note of uncertainly---he is married, has a child, but still conflicted. Perhaps the film's point is why we have to be either totally gay or totally straight. After all, Kinsey posited human sexuality on a 0 to 6 scale with the higher the rating indicating stronger homosexual desire. Boaz is probably a 1 or a 2. That's OK in today's context, but problematic in the Israel of 1989. See more

Mar 22, 2015 The setting is 80s Tel Aviv. Boaz is a university student waiting to here on a scholarship from Jerusalem to study linguistics. Checking his PO box everyday, he starts to receive love letters from an anonymous man. He becomes obsessed with the identity of the man and becomes to question his sexual identity and his relationship with his girlfriend. This is quite a great film depicting paranoia and masculinity. Great performances by the ensemble cast and the eye candy of the quite quite beautiful Yoav Reuveni is lovingly shot. The ending is a bit "huh?" but the rest of the film makes up for it. See more

Mar 15, 2015 An interesting and disquieting film touching on issues of sexuality, loneliness. shame, uncertainty and manhood. The acting is good but the story and characters could have been deeper. Plus, there's some real eye candy, making the film definitely worth watching once. On the other hand, costumes were uncommonly lazy. I don't know how many scenes the lead was in where he supposedly came home at the end of the day with shirts on that still showed the creasing from the packaging. Come on! Get an iron and make an effort! See more
