dustin d @RT12543299 Apr 13, 2021 Son of Lassie is a war-time Lassie cinematic universe film. Lassie's son, Laddie, and his human, Joe, must traverse Nazi-occupied Norway to return to Joe's RAF base. The production value is crappy in some scenes, but some set-pieces are quite daring, particularly the one involving Joe and Laddie swimming through rapids during their escape--something that wouldn't be allowed to be filmed today because of animal rights activists (who make a good point animals shouldn't be subjected to danger for human entertainment), and would likely be made with shoddy, boring CGI. Son of Lassie is shallow in characterization and themes, but it is a crowd-pleaser for anyone who loves both Lassie and watching Nazis get killed (pretty much everyone). Fun for the whole family. Lassie was insured for a million dollars while head star was insured for less. See more

Jul 15, 2015 A simple 'Lassie-esqued' film that tugs at the heart strings well and focuses on devil-may-care though unaware and friendly Laddie very well as the movie is set during the Second World War. See more
