Critics Consensus

Though it hints at the absurdity to come in later installments, The Spy Who Loved Me's sleek style, menacing villains, and sly wit make it the best of the Roger Moore era.

Dannyboy 1 day ago Classic Moore James Bond. As a kid this one was my favorite and seeing it on the BIG SCREEN for the first time was magical. Looked and sounded great! See more David N Jun 2, 2026 One of the cringiest of the Bond films, but it does have good design, an amphibious car, and great miniature effects. See more Dave L @RT61549181 3 days ago Top-10 Bond for me and Roger Moore’s best. Great villain, great story, great protagonists, and I loved the Russia–Great Britain dynamic running alongside it. Classic Bond. See more Jacob W @RT17896586 Oct 25, 2026 The franchise has had an absence recently following DC killing off the character and in effect killing off the franchise. As a result other films have attempted to take up the super spy mantel with some or little success notably the Bourne films the spy who loved me is still one of the best because all its layers it’s a good story. "Jaws" was the best Bond villain ever. See more Read all reviews
