Dave A @CruizerD Mar 27 How to make a second Star Wars Prequel. 1. Take two actors who have less chemistry than an empty beaker, cast them as romantic leads. 2. Make sure you can get home by 4:00 p.m. each day, so whatever you do, don't do multiple takes of scenes no matter how badly the actors butcher the performance. 3. In a world of ray guns, have your secondary villain use a unique dart that is easily traceable so you can have a "mystery." 4. Show the character that was described as noble warrior seduced by the Dark Side to be a petulant, entitled creep from the beginning. 5. Have characters say the most banal things imaginable as they fall in love, fight battles or get executed in a public arena. 6. Disregard all the gentle wisdom Yoda gave in the Empire Strikes Back and have him lead an army of clones that apparently no one paid for against an army of robots so that there is lots of action, but no stakes. 7. Roll credits with that amazing score and hope no one noticed the rest of the film. The dialogue can be rough, but George Lucas’ creativity is on full display with bigger worlds, more politics, and a galaxy that feels more alive than ever. Where it works is in setting things in motion. This is where the saga starts to lean into something darker, with Anakin’s gradual downfall and the looming promise of a galactic war. You can feel the tension building, even if the execution isn’t always perfect. It gives us a deeper look at the Jedi Order's strength and blind spots. Messy at times, but still exciting and undeniably Star Wars at its core. It showcases why Anakin is the way he is and also hints at how he slowly is turning evil. Also the Padme Anakin dynamic is amazing. Hayden Christianson was supposed to portray a moody angsty teenager who has a characteristic no one else does and that’s exactly what he did.
