Ex-soldier Frank Brayker (William Sadler) is the guardian of an ancient key that can unlock tremendous evil; the sinister but charming Collector (Billy Zane) is a demon who wants the key so he can initiate the apocalypse. On the run from wicked mercenaries for almost 90 years, Brayker finally stops in at a boarding house in New Mexico where -- with the help of its quirky residents -- he plans to face off against the Collector and his band of ghouls, preventing them from ever seizing the key.

Critics Consensus

The usual pulp delights of Tales From the Crypt are too few and far between in Demon Knight -- a disappointingly slack and by the numbers siege flick.

Good horror films are thin on the ground right now; this one will do nicely.

To call Demon Knight a popcorn movie is to give it too much credit — I doubt it would raise the pulse of Orville Redenbacher.

Pic is neither funny enough nor scary enough to be fully satisfying as either a shocker or a spoof.

It has one of the best Zane performances in his career, delivers a simply pulpy horror tale, and breaks new ground in the process. New ground which is now carried forward by a strong line of actors and actresses who survive through the credits

It is a campy homage that doesn’t promise any thought-provoking resonance but will provide some easy thrills and stellar kills. Demon Knight knows what it is and doesn’t hide from it.

Big Jim Cameron saw this and and rightfully demanded that Billy Zane be the lead villain of his upcoming bajillion dollar movie.

Why in the Hell did i not watch this untill now having been a fan of the show for 13 years? I did like how the cast was a mix of actors who appeared in episodes of the show before (William Sadler, Charles Fleischer, Billy Zane) an actors who never appeared in the show an it does look like a bigger budgeted feature lengthed episode of the show definitely worth a watch if your a fan of the show.

Brilliant cast, and a well directed action horror from the crypt keeper! Billy Zane was great too!

Billy Zane at his best, great direction from Ernest R. Dickerson, one-liners galore, and a kick ass William Sadler in the lead. Highly recommend! 10/10

This was kind of a haunting movie with Billy Zane cutting up the floor as a Demon. But it had a few guest stars Like CCH Pounder who did an excellent job of killing off the creatures that Billy Zane created with his blood! But I did enjoy the ending and all of the references to Christ who died on the cross, thus my *4* star rating!
