Rusty Cundieff's "Tales From the Hood" is a smart and sassy horror anthology that mixes blunt shocks and sharp satire. Go to Full Review Drew Dietsch Giant Freakin Robot Sep 18, 2025

Tales from the Hood is one of the best horror flicks of the 1990s and a true champion in the subgenre of anthology horror. Go to Full Review Anderson Jones Philadelphia Daily News Apr 26, 2022

[Director Rusty Cundieff] manages to amuse more often than horrify. This tends to make his "Tales" more ready for prime time than the big screen, but more entertaining than a silly haunted house ride at a summer carnival. Go to Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Apr 10, 2022

It ingeniously employs the multi-saga format popularized by the likes of Dead of Night and Tales from the Crypt as a springboard for an examination of real problems facing African-American communities. Go to Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Feb 17, 2022

Fro T @frothizzlereviews Sep 18, 2026 Clarence Williams III knocks it out of the park, and the stories are both incredibly disturbing, and lots of fun. One of my favorite anthology flicks, right behind Creepshow. One of my childhood films that still holds up to this day! 10/10 See more Robert P @Superbad Sep 4, 2026 An okay movie but not a favorite by any means ... See more Claudio C @Claudio666 May 1, 2026 Great Anthology (12,419 – 30 Apr 2026) Three Afro American gangsters go to the Simms Funeral Home to retrieve drugs that the funeral director Mr. Simms has found. He agrees to deliver the drugs but tells four horror tales related to corpses in coffins first. "Tales from the Hood" (1995) is a great horror anthology related to black people. All the tales are excellent and very well written and the conclusion, when Mr. Simms shows the three coffins where the drug would be is funny and concludes the film with golden key. My vote is seven. Title (Brazil): "Contos Macabros" ("Macabre Tales") See more David S. @baxter667 Dec 15, 2025 An entertaining if a bit of a B grade film, this surprisingly good anthology film, is loaded with moral tales and social commentary. I'm surprised at how good it still is and it does hold up nicely. Not for everyone, but if you like these types of films it's not a bad waste of time and I like it!!! See more April S. @amjone5 Oct 27, 2025 Still holds up, must watch! See more Byron H. @HalloweenII Oct 23, 2025 3/4 It's right on that cusp of becoming a classic film as a whole. It's well made & actually scary. See more Read all reviews
