Critics Consensus

More of a string of formulaic set pieces than an actual action thriller, Terminal Velocity ends up going nowhere fast.

As a wise-cracking sky-diving instructor, Charlie Sheen wears his usual look of someone who has just been asked a really difficult question (like: how come your career has lasted this long?).

Some of the comic writing undercuts the preposterous story.

You've gotta hand it to Terminal Velocity: This movie may be dumb as a box of shredded wheat, but it has the damnedest action sequence I've seen since Arnold Schwarzenegger blasted the bad guy with the missile in True Lies.

Although the realism is at a staggering low, the screenplay is surprisingly clever, using quite a few jokes and suspenseful situations for impressive comedic effect.

A brisk, sleek wrong-man story that's easily the better of 1994's dueling skydiver movies and, had a darker Charlie Sheen from another universe not swapped places with our own, might have made the actor Kurt Russell's action-movie heir apparent.

At the time of this release there was also Drop Zone with Wesley Snipes that looked at the similar situation. That said this film with Charlie Sheen. At the hight of his career he was in some really high profile films. Like this one Sheen demonstrates what a good actor he is. While he is renowned for comedy roles. What people forget is that as a serious actor he is also really good.
