I can't speak to its veracity, but I loved Segel's work here, playing Wallace as someone who over-analyzed everything, to a compulsive, near paralyzing degree, while still managing to be the most interesting, literary guy in the room.

Occasionally it feels like an excuse for introspective comments from the David Foster Wallace Book of Wisdom, but Segel finds the humanity in him, playing him as a man who lived inside his head even as his world expanded.

The End of the Tour is easily my favorite A24 film. It’s a quiet, dialogue-driven movie, but it feels incredibly real and engaging from start to finish. Jason Segel delivers an amazing performance as David Foster Wallace, capturing both his brilliance and vulnerability, while Jesse Eisenberg provides a strong contrast that makes their conversations even more compelling. What I love most is how the film focuses on ideas, connection, and the small, human moments rather than big plot points. It’s thoughtful, introspective, and sticks with you after it ends. Overall, I’d give it an 8/10—it’s a simple but powerful film that stands out for its performances and writing.
