Matthew D @OceanSage 8h Rooney Mara is haunting and moving as the Goth hacker heroine Lisbeth Salander. Director David Fincher’s neo-noir mystery thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) is now my favorite film from Fincher. I was genuinely disturbed and upset after seeing this film when it first released, but it was burned into my brain. I gave it another chance and I see it as very feminist and sympathetic to abused women. Daniel Craig is excellent as investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist. He is cautious, smart, and still somewhat sleazy. Rooney Mara is simply astounding as the Goth hacker and misanthrope Lisbeth Salander. I felt immense sympathy for her constantly abused character, who becomes a merciless heroine. Mara is incredibly brave to take on such a brutal role. I actually think The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is her finest performance as an actress. In all, Rooney Mara is phenomenal and deserves the world. See more Blake- N @RT32589154 1d The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a very gripping and well-crafted thriller that stands out for its dark atmosphere, complex storytelling, and strong performances. From the start, the film pulls you into a cold, unsettling mystery that slowly builds tension without losing momentum. Daniel Craig delivers a solid performance as the determined journalist, but it’s Rooney Mara who truly steals the show as Lisbeth Salander. Her portrayal is intense, layered, and unforgettable, bringing depth to a character that feels both vulnerable and fiercely powerful. The direction, pacing, and cinematography all work together to create a chilling and immersive experience. While the subject matter is dark and not easy to watch at times, it is handled with care and precision, making the story even more impactful. Overall, it’s a stylish, intelligent, and emotionally heavy thriller that leaves a lasting impression. I’d rate it a 9/10. See more zwiebel L @RT03954282 Mar 12 Bad Sound, actors not authentical, no need to dublicate the original. nonsense intro, flat acting. See more Dave N @DNeale Mar 6 I'm surprised the book did so well because the plot is very pedestrian and often predictable. Maybe the book is just exceptionally well-written, and the movie is certainly well-made, acted, and atmospheric, if at times a little hard to follow. I enjoyed it, but there's plenty of things I would have rather spent 2 and a half hours on. See more Christian K @ckacar Feb 22 This stays really entertaining even through its drab cold case pursuit and a couple of the most unsettling sexual assault scenes put on screen due to Fincher's attention to detail and a locked in cast. I'll admit to being to disappointed by the last 15 minutes of this. See more Jack F @MovieFan111 Nov 19 It was long, and a little confusing, but it was good. I haven't seen the foreign one.
