Bushranger Ben Hall is drawn back into crime by the reappearance of his old friend. The duo takes on a new recruit and soon begins a spree of robberies and crimes across New South Wales. After killing two policemen, the three become the most wanted men in the colony when the government declares that they can be shot on sight. Fearing for his life, Ben makes desperate plans to flee the colony, but with a such a large bounty on their heads, treachery abounds where he least expects it.

Often the word "legend" in a film title can be a fairly good indicator that you're not in for a breezy frolic, but that still doesn't prepare you for the ponderously protracted slog that is "The Legend of Ben Hall."

As portrayed by Jack Martin, the bushranger is an imposing figure, tall craggy, blue-eyed and charming when he wants to be. But his motivations, except for the fact he wants his son back, remain sketchy.

This is a great movie. Great special effects, great story, great scenery, great action with great actors. Based on true events. This review isn't about condoning bad behavior. This review is about a great movie that holds my attention.

Ben Hall is an outback western that is probably 25 minutes too long. Ben was known for being an outlaw, but not taking lives in the process. Based on a true story...was a little sleepy for me.

I thought the movie was good overall as it tells the story of Ben Hall who was an outlaw or Bushranger in Australia on the run, but still, a decent man who cared about his family and never killed anyone.

This has to be one of the most boring, disjointed Westerns I've ever seen. Coupled with Jamie Coffa's performance, easily one of the absolute worst performances I've witnessed in my life, this movie is a definite pass.

Not so so bad - Jack Martin though (as Ben Hall), was excellent... Jamie Coffa (as John Gilbert) was some of the WORST acting I've ever seen... Aside from the constant horrible cackle, its hard to remember the last time I've seen such forced, over the top, unrealistic acting, as that which was excruciatingly displayed by Jamie Coffa (sorry, but just being honest!). As such, his performance detracted much from what would otherwise be a pretty decent film. Such a pity! Jack Martin, in comparison, was seemlessly fluid and believable... which "almost" made up for the train wreck of a performance Coffa's acting painfully inflicted on the integrity of this movie.
