Kevin L @Lakeman Oct 2 Similar in some ways, "The Nature of Love" is a superior version of "Unfaithful" and some other similar films built on the wanderings of those in committed relationships who become utterly enthralled by someone else who has characteristics unlike those of their partner. This new person is likely more intense, passionate about subjects that are esp. interesting and exciting. And course, sexually arousing to the point of obsession. But is it love, or more like a very powerful lust; filling some gap(s) one might be missing out on being more fulfilled in. Great performances by leads Magalie Lépine Blondeau and Pierre-Yves Cardinal. Writer/director Monia Chokri weaves a potent tale of drifting souls, new 'love' of a sort, lustful possession, but also shows us some hard realities. There's the way ppl can be brutal to their partners. There's the ways we can drift apart slowly as love become more like committed friendship. Chokri's lusciously filmed feature shows some of these factors can sustain bonds long or short, intimate or distanced.
