Catherine D. @CatherineOrozco Mar 1, 2026 Wonderful movie to depict the story in the book! Animation leaves some to be desired HOWEVER it’s not bad enough to take away from the message or deter younger viewers. It’s a favorite in our home and one I’m happy to put on! GREAT MESSAGE!!! See more

Lisa Y @GodismyOath Jan 14, 2026 Where has this movie been in my life?! I couldn't disagree more with the poor reviews about this movie. Sure, the animation isn't Pixar Studios quality but the animation is still great! The voice acting is more than just believable -- it transports you emotionally and mentally, scene by scene. The storyline in this movie is a TREASURE; so many gems are dropped throughout this movie and will excite you if you're truly on the narrow path with King Jesus. I cannot wait to introduce this movie to my nieces and nephews, and share it with my siblings. I would even petition for more movies like The Pilgrim's Progress to be created because it's sorely needed in this world. Overall, this movie is a fantastic watch for all ages and I would highly recommend it! See more

See more

Abby H @RT51534589 Apr 8, 2025 The Pilgrim's Progress offers a fresh take on John Bunyan's classic story for new audiences. This can be both a blessing and a curse. The film takes opportunities to add to the original tale, especially Christian's life before his journey. For example, Christian has a closer relationship with his family and seems to think of them always. This is very different from Bunyan's tale, where Christian barely thinks twice about leaving his family behind. This development makes Christian a more relatable character. Additionally, the animation allows for some scenes from Christian's journey to become larger than life. The movie makes certain scenes more dramatic and exciting: the Vanity Fair, Christian's fight with Apollyon, and his encounter with Giant Despair. All of these moments are engaging and draw in viewers with spectacle. Unfortunately, the intrigue of these scenes is diminished by the movie's poor pacing. John Bunyan's story takes about 6-7 hours to read. The movie, rather than focus on just a few, most important, aspects of Christian's journey, attempts to cram every landmark into just 105 minutes. This creates a rushed feeling that prevents viewers from connecting with the film in a deep way. Before the audience can react to what Christian is experiencing, he is moving on to something new. For the sake of time, the movie also cuts out most conversations in favor of action. While this may help reduce run time, it also prevents the characters from getting to know each other. For example, when Faithful is killed at Vanity Fair, Christian mourns for a few moments before moving on. This may seem harsh, but it is a reasonable reaction given that Christian and Faithful had only shared one meal together on screen. The friendship and bond between the characters is nonexistent. Ultimately, this hurts the movie and creates a disjointed feeling. Every impactful moment is undermined by the movie's need for speed. Overall, this movie is a wonderful adaptation of Bunyan's work. Though it has some pacing problems, it is an excellent way to connect younger audiences to Christian's story. Children will enjoy the action and parents can enjoy the positive messaging throughout. Though this movie is not perfect, it has a heart that shines through every scene. All ages will be able to walk away from the film with their hearts refreshed with hope. No matter what happens, we all will keep pushing on towards the goodness ahead. See more
