Operating under the theory that paranormal activity is triggered by negative human energy, the group uses a series of tests to push a young woman to the edge of sanity. The film seems to mimic [Professor] Coupland's scientific method: Throw everything into the beaker, crank up the Bunsen burner, and hope the experiment works. In both cases, it doesn't.

Although there are some script holes and unanswered questions, and yes, some of the unavoidable horror tropes, at the end of the day, there's nothing quiet about The Quiet Ones. It screams frightening terror.

In some ways, The Quite Ones is thematically similar to Red Lights from 2012: A study of paranormal phenomenon from a firmly sceptical perspective, the big difference being that Red Lights took until the 3rd act to completely fall apart, while The Quite Ones never gives us enough to care about in the first place. Full of bizarrely editing scenes, tiresome jump scares and so many bangs, clangs and knocks that it may as well be retitled NOISES: The Motion Picture. Jared Harris is a great actor but the film never really lets us into his head, and Olivia Cooke struggles to find anything of substance in a possessed girl that’s about as clichéd as they come. Despite some solid performances and moments of intrigue, it’s a film that’s satisfied to play all the paranormal hits with very little creativity or innovation. The absolute epitome of ‘mid.’

Didn't expect much from this one but was pleasantly surprised. Was it amazing? No, but the acting was great and the plot was decent. Recommend if you are looking for something in the realm of films like the Conjuring and Insidious.

Jumpscare central with a girl being possessed. This movie is so unoriginal and not even well acted. And for some reason they didn't fix the color grade making everything look darker than it actually is.

Their is enough colorful characters that keeps this film interesting and when the overall story makes sense at the end of the day you get an above average horror thriller.
