The beautiful cinematography offers a rare glimpse into the world of people on the autism spectrum and experiences that are so often misunderstood. For any parent with lived experience, this film will resonate deeply. You find yourself wishing that, even for one day, others could walk in your shoes. Perhaps then there would be more empathy, patience and understanding for neurodivergent people. The film captures the worries parents carry, the people who underestimate their children's abilities and the fear of what will happen when you are no longer there. Most of all, it shows the extraordinary love of a parent. It also reminds us that neurodivergent people have so much to teach us about connection, warmth, acceptance, love and happiness. Sensorially, it is absolutely disgusting. If you have oversensitivities, you will get sick after a couple of minutes. I goy anxiety directly. How is it possible that a movie on autism is made so hostile for highly sensitive people?! Increadibly stupid. Moreover, it doesn’t convey much knowledge about autism itself. It focus on the experience of a person who was non verbal, which is a very small part of the spectrum. I really don’t recommend it if you want to understand autism broadly and, if you are in the spectrum or just highly sensitive, it will make you feel truly sick. I have seen other reviews saying the same, unfortunately, after I paid for watching the movie. Totally unfortunate. I don’t understand who the director was aiming to address but certainly not neurodivergent people with sensitivities. See more isla s @RT89656869 09/02/2022 I thought this was a very immersive documentary that does well at giving an insight into the lives and minds of non verbal autistic adolescents. Its a very colourful film, in terms of the bright colours shown on screen (not referring to strong language, its safe to say). I liked the sense of hope it conveys - we could all do with feeling more hope at the moment. See more 10/29/2021 Cinematography was astounding, especially for a documentary. The sound design makes beautiful connections between pictures and unexpected sounds, making it a sensory experience, especially in dolby atmos. the story seemed to be a bit cliché at times, showing mostly the easy and good things. it still was very touching and emotional and i really felt connected with the 5 characters. it seemed as if they tried to not overwhelm the viewer with sound and pictures, even though they were saying that the world can be quite very overwhelming to people with autism. i feel like i have a better understanding of autism with a less prejudiced view after seeing the movie. See more dave d @RT34924333 07/27/2021 A fantastic film for hubby and wife date night, the documentary, 'The Reason I Jump'.  Hubby loved the film.  It's another in the growing line of fantastic and illuminating docs on autism.  It's wonderful and will open your heart to some ideas.  It's remarkable when you think about it what these formally unable to communicate people can now do!  It's filmed in a way that is colorful and happy.  We need more uplifting movies and this is wonderful.
