Critics Consensus

The Secret Life of Pets 2 doesn't teach its animated stars any new narrative tricks -- but for fans of the original, this funny, energetic sequel should still satisfy.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 brims with the simple joy of being on this planet, with all its ups and downs. I'm sure it will still be in cinemas for the looming school holidays. Any kid who likes animals will love it.

The film, I must admit, has a specific kinetic energy that keeps the pace moving. You could almost call it an animated film about nothing when all three separate storylines meet at the end.

Uggh. A whole lot of stupid crammed into such a short time. Best to wait until video so you can sleep thru it while the kids watch.

My family loved this movie. I liked that it had a completely different story line than the first one.
