In 1630 New England, panic and despair envelops a farmer, his wife and their children when youngest son Samuel suddenly vanishes. The family blames Thomasin, the oldest daughter who was watching the boy at the time of his disappearance. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, twin siblings Mercy and Jonas suspect Thomasin of witchcraft, testing the clan's faith, loyalty and love to one another.

Based on New England folk stories, this horror movie revolves around a family during the early days of the Pilgrims. Due to differing religious beliefs, the family is ostracized from their village and forced to set up camp deep within the woods. As they settle in, paranormal events begin to unfold, creating a tense and suspenseful atmosphere. Although the story progresses at a slow pace, it ultimately leads to a satisfying and well-crafted ending. A special mention goes to Anya Taylor-Joy, whose breakout performance is outstanding. She is also my favorite vegan actor, which made her performance even more enjoyable to watch. This movie is rated 4 out of 4 stars on HBO. #IMDb #TheWitch #AnyaTaylorJoy
