Critics Consensus

Surreal, unsettling, and finally haunting, The Wolf House is a stunning outpouring of creativity whose striking visuals queasily complement its disturbing story.

There's gnarly, unnerving texture to everything in this unhinged film, which fragments and reforms like a nightmare born from the darkest recesses of the mind. Go to Full Review

The Wolf House undoubtedly has sharp and fascinating pints to make... But those messages get lost in a slow-moving avalanche of undeniably impressive images that never quite touch the emotions in the way they are meant. Go to Full Review

The Wolf House is pure genre, but also, a disturbing, chilling, and intricate work of art that's different from anything else done in this century... [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

in The Wolf House the volumetric and the pictorial are governed more by emotional, magical or shamanic rules than merely coincident. Their interrelation is more expressive than geometric or conceptual. Go to Full Review

florencia L @Florencel 3d The animation is interesting, based on the horror of reality; nevertheless, the storyline becomes disjointed as the graphics and sounds distort, and the audience gets lost in the house of a broken mind. The ambiguity in the script is too great, and if I didn't know the historical context, I wouldn't have been able to grasp anything beyond the high-intensity and disturbing atmosphere. Sound/(faint)noise becomes too much. See more Adriana S @adria333 Jan 2 This is not horror. This is heartbreak. A beautiful, immensely creative, and hauntingly clever piece on the terrors an ex Nazi brought upon the hundreds trapped in Colonia Dignidad. I really loved how they took the classic ‘three little pigs’ tale and morphed it into this masterpiece. I loved the animation style, I loved the storytelling, and left with a puddle of tears in my lap. I ache for Maria. I ache for all of the victims. The dialogue may be hard to decipher even if you’re also a Spanish speaker, but putting a good subtitle will help. Otherwise, I won’t ever forget about this film, and I don’t think I’d want to. All I can say is that if you decide to watch it, be prepared to not understand what's happening, and get ready for one of the most unique movies of your life. You can thank Tubi for this. Was it scary? Um... I don't really have an answer. You decide. I think most will say yes. You want to increase your chances of being scared? Watch it at night like I did. See more Frenkie T @RT32638069 Nov 5 These are the kind of cartoons that should win prizes at major international competitions, not clichéd works. But this is too original and not the right format to win anywhere. An incredibly long (5 years!) and painstaking amount of manual work went into this film, which was drawn, sculpted and animated live! The result is atmospheric, gloomy, surreal and eerie. It is the story of a young girl's escape from the Dignidad concentration camp (sect) in Chile. Unfortunately, her mind is irrevocably broken, and there can be no happy ending. See more Jeff W @GratefulDad 10/14/2023 One of the most diabolically twisted, beautifully stunning pieces of animation you'll ever see. A massive achievement that took two men and a small crew five years to create. Don't worry about trying to follow the narrative, just let the cascade of mind-altering visuals amaze you. This is fluffing brilliant. See more Patryk G @RT71896368 03/07/2023 Wonderful but mostly incomprehensible. See more Read all reviews
