Critics Consensus

A competent, if sometimes by-the-numbers entry to the 007 franchise, Tomorrow Never Dies may not boast the most original plot but its action sequences are genuinely thrilling.

Despite the film's faults, David Arnold's score, which layers industrialised sounds over traditional orchestration, can make some sequences seem more exciting than they actually are.

After weeks of media bombardment with Tomorrow Never Dies product tie-in commercials, it's clear that the studio and the film's producers have reinvented movie promotion. Now they need to focus their efforts on reinventing the Bond movies.

In Tomorrow Never Dies, the news is mostly good. And when it comes to movies, there's no news like good news.

A middling Bond film, but Bond films are always fun, and we enjoyed this one. The 4K presentation brought out the detail in the elaborate sets and costumes and made the stars look even better. Fine entertainment while exercising.

How this movie made me feel in one word: Apathetic. Are there more grains of sand on earth or stars in the universe? Trick question. There are more bullets that miss James Bond in this movie than both of those things combined. Honestly, the movie isn't terrible but the chase scenes are too long and the bad guys (and some good guys) are just so stupid. Seriously, why couldn't Wai Lin just climb the chain? Best Character: Dr. Kaufman Best Quote: "The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success." - Carver Best Scene: Remote Control Car Scene Best Piece of Score: "Tomorrow Never Dies"

Looking back, I actually enjoy it far more than I did at the time. I’d say it’s a great retro film pick.

An eccentric media mogul Bond villain and remote-control BMW are the most memorable features of "Tomorrow Never Dies", which still make for a decent yet imperfect entry.
