TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 4, 2025 Uppercut is a flat, uninspired action film that fails to deliver on nearly every level. The story feels pieced together, with a weak screenplay that struggles to create tension, coherence, or any real narrative momentum. Scenes are disjointed, character motivations are unclear, and the plot never builds toward a meaningful payoff. The direction does little to elevate the material, allowing the film to feel aimless and lifeless throughout. Casting choices only compound the issue—there’s no standout actor to anchor the story, and performances feel flat and disengaged. Even the action sequences, which should have been the film’s highlight, fall short, lacking energy, creativity, or excitement. Overall, Uppercut is a disappointing and forgettable experience, with no spark, no star power, and no redeeming qualities. It’s a project that fails to engage or entertain and is not worth watching. Kyle M @RT77296778 Dec 1, 2025 Either the screenplay fails or performatively the other way around. A behavioral knockoff to "Rocky" shamelessly mocks "Million Dollar Baby" with a tediously bland plot that underutilizes Ving Rhames’ qualified potential to be the sought motivator, only to be letdown in one of the most disappointingly bland sports films whereas no one scored. Derrick W @RT29002986 Nov 22, 2025 I so much wanted and waited to like this movie, but after it ended, I was left with no plot, no climax, no boxing from the girl, no mention of what happened to trainer, I thought I went to sleep and missed the important parts...just plain awful...and I'm very forgiving. I was very disappointed. I would give it a 0/5 if I could. See more

Dan Nov 11, 2025 My girlfriend picked this one. I thought itd be boring, but it kinda got me. Ving was just on another level. That connection between them felt real, not the usual movie stuff. See more

Alice Muret Nov 11, 2025 I watched this movie because my daughter recommended it. At first it felt really slow and I was like, wtf, but then it totally pulled me in. I ended up loving the relationship between Ving and the girl. Pretty intense. See more
