Despondent after breaking up with his girlfriend, Zia kills himself and wakes up in a bland purgatory populated by other suicides. He takes a job at Kamikaze Pizza and befriends a Russian rocker named Eugene while trying to make the best of a very dull afterlife. Learning that his ex-girlfriend has also killed herself, Zia embarks on a road trip with Eugene to find her, picking up a feisty hitchhiker along the way.

A pretty cool premise, and a very decent ending. Interesting take on afterlife antics, and pretty thoughtful. Not left feeling bored despite it's theme of, well, boredom. Worth watching.

A culturally renewed vision of the afterlife of those who have committed suicide and the average elements of an independent romance flick with dark humor. Wristcutters is a profound road trip film that is charming and different where the predicaments of the typical romance film are caused by desire and regret - both played out comedically and sometimes in an attempt to do so emotionally.

This hidden gem is a darkly hilarious and oddly heartwarming journey through a quirky afterlife for suicides. The chemistry between Patrick Fugit and Shannyn Sossamon is electric, and Tom Waits steals every scene he’s in. The offbeat humor, killer soundtrack, and surreal vibe make it unforgettable. It’s like if Tim Burton and Wes Anderson had a beautifully twisted baby.

Synopsis
