Sometimes the wrong place is right where you need to be. From Will Packer, the blockbuster producer of Girls Trip, the Ride Along franchise, and ten movies that have opened No. 1 at the U.S. box office--including Night School, This Christmas and Think Like a Man--comes a delicious romantic comedy about one little lie, one large Italian villa, and two people getting lost in the sauce of love. Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid, The Color Purple) stars as Anna, a young woman who has abandoned her dreams of becoming a chef and is now drifting through her twenties with a series of bad choices. When Anna loses her house-sitting job (and housing) in one fell swoop, a chance encounter with Matteo--a handsome Italian who happens to have a villa sitting empty in Tuscany--will inspire her to jet off for Italy, against the advice of her always-honest bestie, Claire (Home Before Dark's Aziza Scott). But Anna's plan to crash at Matteo's villa, without permission, just for one night, falls apart when Matteo's mother, Gabriella (Italian film icon Isabella Ferrari) shows up at the house unexpectedly. In a panic, Anna allows Gabriella to believe that she is Matteo's fiancée. That little lie becomes a big problem, though, when Matteo's cousin, Michael (Regé-Jean Page; Bridgerton, Black Bag) shows up, and Anna discovers that the heat between them may ignite a fire that will transform her life.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A sweet-natured throwback to the romantic comedies where stakes were low and chemistry easygoing, You, Me & Tuscany doesn't fully justify its credibility gaps but proves as pleasingly light and bubbly as Prosecco.

For an outlandish romance set in a theme-park version of Italy that features more slow-motion shots of food being tossed in the air than an ’80s McDonald’s commercial, it’s actually pretty charming. Go to Full Review

In this romcom that evaporates while you’re watching it, a mismatched Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page fight a losing battle to outshine the Tuscan scenery. Go to Full Review

So yes, this is a standard rom-com, in all the best of ways — both playing with the genre’s well-trodden tropes, and letting us enjoy how much fun they can be. Go to Full Review

You could plug inanimate objects into these roles and the movie would play to the same formula. Go to Full Review

The problem is not that "You, Me & Tuscany" sticks to the formula, but that it rarely does anything inventive with it. Go to Full Review

I enjoyed the actors, seeing the beautiful scenery and delicious food. See more Don J 44m Very charming movie Halle Bailey and Rege-Jean Page were both very likeable and had nice chemistry. Sure, there are some cheesy and cringe moments like with many romantic comedies. But overall, it was just a nice feel good romantic comedy and it looked beautiful on screen.
