Critics Consensus

In Yaga, the small-town gossip is juicy, the desires are questionable, and the woods are looking awfully witchy in this darkly comic supernatural mystery.

Yaga is certainly ambitious, but it takes a deft hand to balance silliness and fear, and this does not quite manage to pull it off.

Yaga is such a quirky, hit-and-miss endeavour, so dependent on individual taste and the amount of goodwill in the room at any given moment that everyone should give it a shot.

By using supernatural forces to challenge the assumptions women have lived under for years, Sandler creates a world in which women are finally free to be as complicated, dangerous and morally compromised as men.

While her best scenes are still to come, Moss is completely mesmerising and unpredictable - crucial qualities for the mysterious Katherine.

Yaga succeeds as a blend of maritime gloom, folkloric atmosphere, dark comedy, and erotic tension, with the occasional eruption of graphic violence, but its performances elevate the show to must-watch territory.

YAGA might be the unhinged occult soap opera we need to keep us warm as the summer sunlight fades into autumn.

The premise of the show is interesting but I'm finding the dialogue somewhat choppy and cliche. Though I do give it points for the supernatural elements which I'm enjoying. I'd say so far it's an average show and depending on how it sticks the ending it could become an above-average show.

I'm really liking it so far! I was skeptical at first, as someone who's studied and had an interest in slavic mythology/folklore for years but a couple episodes in and the plot/mystery/characterization/cinematography has blown me away!

I’m really enjoying how fast-paced this show is, it keeps me hooked & makes me want to immediately watch the next episode. There are so many questions right now like where is Henry, what actually happened & where is the story going? Definitely a show that keeps me guessing & wanting more.

it's not bad the short episodes don't let you get bored but compared to other witchery shows (like American Horror Story, Agatha all along or Discovery of witches) - it's not scary enough, not funny enough, no likeable characters, I can't root for ANYONE here

A captivating story, incredible performances, beautiful cinematography, and an amazing soundtrack. YAGA has such a fascinating atmosphere. I'm absolutely loving it!
