While still a boy, Abraham Lincoln loses his mother to a vampire's bite. He vows revenge, but fails in the attempt, narrowly escaping with his life. He is rescued by Henry (Dominic Cooper), a charismatic vampire hunter who instructs Abe in the fine art of dispatching bloodsuckers. Abe (Benjamin Walker) continues his fight against the undead well into adulthood and his presidency, making a last stand against the ultimate vampire foe (Rufus Sewell) on the eve of the Civil War's defining battle.

The violence quickly becomes numbing, and Benjamin Walker plays Lincoln without the sense of irony needed to keep the historical and supernatural sides of the story consistently entertaining.

Instead of laughing at this movie, we could have been laughing with it and enjoying the experience rather than despising it. But Bekmambetov forgoes the obvious absurdity of the subject matter.

Even though "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" butchers and condenses its pulpy and popular source novel, the movie is simply fun escapist entertainment and pops off of the screen like a 3D movie should.

Brilliant. Off beat for sure, but very entertaining and captivating. It's a movie, lighten up. Some novel ideas cleverly written in and very well directed. Stellar cast really convincing in character. Lots of gore, violence, drama, suspense, otherworldliness, mystical, intrigue, emotion and very dark at times. Visually stunning, great presentation manages to capture the relevant ambiance perfectly.

Si bien el libro me entretuvo bastante, la película deja mucho que desear. No puedo recomendarla aunque sí recomiendo el libro. Tal vez la película se siente demasiado forzada o demasiado apresurada para los sucesos que acontesen en el libro. Si bien de inicio la temática ya es bastante absurda, recomiendo iniciar la película con poca o nada de espectativa para poder disfrutarla.

Basically felt like someone wrote a generic vampire hunter (see Vin Diesel: the last witch hunter) and the writers had a brainstorming session trying to think of a “hook” to make it stand out. They were just drunk enough and Daniel Day-Lewis’s performance was just fresh enough for this to seem like a great idea.
