Nobody likes real-estate agent Oren Little (Michael Douglas), and he prefers it that way. He's deliberately mean to anyone who crosses his path and wants nothing more than to sell one final house and retire. Oren's life turns upside-down when his estranged son drops off a granddaughter (Sterling Jerins) he didn't know existed. Oren has no idea how to take care of a child, so he pawns the girl off on his neighbor, Leah (Diane Keaton) -- but he learns how to open his heart eventually.

Douglas and Keaton do just as well with the romantic angle, mostly because he's so adept at dispelling any whiff of mawkishness. Oren's essential orneriness remains, no matter what, and the film turns out to be a lot of fun because of him.

From the perspective of technical craft, nothing really seems out of place. None of it seems to help the frustratingly uninspired narrative, however, turning “And So It Goes” into a largely inoffensive but depressingly fruitless viewing experience.

2.5 stars; Cute, heartwarming, and all of those other 'Hallmark' endearing qualities. The comedy aspect of the plot would be funny if it wasn't so predictable. The best thing about this movie was that Douglas/Keaton didn't try to be a Tracy/Hepburn.

The world is full of drama, bad news, violence, etc. To watch this movie is a breath of sweetness, a simple smile, and hope that life doesn't end when you reach your older days.

This movie is so WEIRD... There's a scene with the grandfather saying how the 10yo girl would make a good wife someday..... There's another scene where a teddy bear is humped by a dog, then the next scene the little girl is hugging it in the backseat of grandpa car... Grandma touched it too, very weird & creepy movie!! Not even finished with it. Agree with the other review about such a hard watch in 2026... If I could rate it negative stars, I would... The only redeeming quality of the movie is Diane Keaton!
