Merida (Kelly Macdonald), the impetuous but courageous daughter of Scottish King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), is a skilled archer who wants to carve out her own path in life. Her defiance of an age-old tradition angers the Highland lords and leads to chaos in the kingdom. Merida seeks help from an eccentric witch (Julie Walters), who grants her an ill-fated wish. We're in a bit of a slog for Pixar. It's much better than Cars 2, but not up to the typical Pixar standard. The animation of Merida's hair is incredible, the story is fine and the humor is decent. Extra points because I'm a sucker for a good bonding montage. Best Character: Bear Eleanor Best Quote: "There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it." - Merida Best Scene: Bonding Montage Best Piece of Score: Merida's Home Note: I love the songs by Julie Fowlis. She crushes it!

While it’s not my least favorite Pixar movie, it’s certainly not my favorite. Brave offers the same old recycled story that we see in every coming of age film. It’s predictable, has no substance, and often little to no consequences. Nothing happened to her when she turned her mother into a bear. Her mother forgave her immediately after she embarrassed her during the archery ceremony. No consequences, no sitting with the emotions, just plain bland. There were parts I liked, I liked the songs, I think the voice acting was good, I appreciate that they hired actual Scottish actors/actresses. The animation wasn’t the absolute best but it still deserves to be talked about in some regard. Overall, not the best. Coulda been so much more.

We had to watch this movie in French and do 2 google forms, which were alright, but an entire ESSAY along with a multiple-choice with Open-ended on it as well the day before. after it was finished, our teacher made us RETAKE it. the movie has good animation but it caused me PAIN AND SUFFERING, would only recommend to your kid if they WON'T take French in high school
