This film has a Disney Channel movie feel to it, with an over the top comedic villain, played by Danny Pudi. Matilda Lawler plays the lead role well. There were a few characters that didn’t translate well from the novel that could have been left out of the film. The editing seemed off as well as a few spoken lines late in the film seemed out of order. The climatic scene was a little over the top for me as well.
