Critics Consensus

Glass displays a few glimmers of M. Night Shyamalan at his twisty world-building best, but ultimately disappoints as the conclusion to the writer-director's long-gestating trilogy.

This may not be M. Night Shyamalan's worst movie, though it's surely his most disappointing. Go to Full Review

You have to admire the nerve of Shyamalan for attempting something like this-and indeed, for choosing Glass as the title for a film so unashamedly non-transparent. Go to Full Review

With a movie jumping from character to character so often, it just didn't have flow or pacing or tone. Go to Full Review

Shyamalan brought something new to the table that is not quite like any other superhero film. His use of the hero, the villain, and the outer forces of power has been brought to life wonderfully. Go to Full Review

might find its monologues about comic books pretentious. However, I believe it comes from a genuine love of comics from Shyamalan. [...] Some may dislike it for its overflowing uniqueness, but I ended up quite captivated with it. Go to Full Review

Glass unfortunately gets bogged down in overtly precise plot mechanics and not trusting the audience to keep up that it falters in the narrative progression and thematic clarity... Go to Full Review

See more Aaron 11/18/2021 i fell in love with this series and the ending was more than i could ever ask for. mcavoy is a beast in every role he takles but in this one for real. sam jackson is so good as glass its chilling. even bruce stays true to a character that he hasnt played in forever. epic cast and great movie. See more Malik G 11/08/2021 Loved it and the characters. Great way to bring unbreakable, split, and now glass to a satisfying conclusion See more Frans B @FransB 3h Definitely lacking the momentum and focus of "Split" and "Unbreakable". The target of this narrative is missed completely it seems? Between the start of this movie and it's ending, there is not a lot happening to distinguish properly between the two (one does not feel much the wiser at the end) James McAvoy really shines in character, as much as the script would allow him. Whole cast seem to struggle with interpretation, surely not lack of talent, rather that vague and somewhat hollow script. Not one of M. Night Shyamalan's best hours, and I am such a huge admirer of his work. Oh well, better luck next time hey? 😜 See more McLovin B @JamaicanMeVeryAngry 3d This film serves as the conclusion to a trilogy older than I am, giving us the dramatic, and as usual, unexpected story we've all longed for. It can be challenging to put a lid on something like the unbreakable trilogy but this truly was an effort by Shyamalan. Despite telling the different stories of three main characters, the film maintains a solid pace that flows without distraction or abruptness. Unlike the first two in the trilogy, Glass has a much larger screen time of superhero and villain action which is the satisfying result of nearly 20 years of hype and build up. Throughout the film, Shyamalan also displays the true power behind the Beast and Unbreakable, which is very exciting as they clash multiple times. This film also draws webs between Unbreakable and Split, weaving together an intricate and unbelievable story that makes perfect sense despite being made over the course of two decades. A-list cast, good pacing (considering the size of the project) unforeseen twist,WATCH! See more Read all reviews
