Graffiti Bridge may be far from perfect, but it is also a fascinating film in a number of ways, due as much to its strengths as its weaknesses. Go to Full Review

Graffiti Bridge is essentially a series of music videos strung together uncomfortably with awkward dialogue and stiff acting. Go to Full Review
Jason Bailey Flavorwire 10/15/2016
He abandons even the semi-realism of 'Purple Rain' for something closer to a good, old-fashioned, backlot musical - something we get even less of these days, so enjoy the novelty. Go to Full Review

Khalan C @RT41115907 Apr 22 Even though the plot is wonky and is overshadowed by it's first film, it serves as a worthy sequel to hardcore Prince fans and those wanting to follow The Kid's story. See more joanie 02/20/2025 if u watch this movie as if it was a filmed Broadway musical u will see that it is top notch in: performances, set design, lighting, costumes, and of course the music. missed all that? then watch it again. & if u missed the film’s message, repeat til u get it See more dovescry1999 @RT70151390 04/07/2024 For me, the movie is now kind of priceless. It's not any "better" in terms of narrative, but I'm just so grateful to have it. Yes, I'm romantizing it in light of Prince's passing but I think that's okay as long as a little perspective is maintained. As others have been saying, it works fairly well as a string of music videos all glued together with a vague plot thread. A real screenwriter might've worked wonders with the basic ideas - and made characters like the ones played by Mavis and Tevin more integral. "Melody Cool" is still a knockout sequence. The lapse into "musical" territory in certain spots (like "Love Machine") is jarring, but in a way enhances the slightly surreal atmosphere. Anyway, I liked to watch "Graffiti Bridge" every few years and I'm glad it's around now more than ever. Even though "Under the Cherry Moon" is Prince's true cinematic best - so misunderstood and so, so good. Though I haven't been able to bring myself to revisit that one just yet. See more Little Red Corvette @RT32789231 04/07/2024 I remember seeing the world premiere of the "Thieves In The Temple" video and thinking 'this movie is soooo sexy!'. That video really made me excited to see the film. Joy in Repetition and Question of U are my favorites. I was really young when I first saw Graffiti Bridge for the first few times as well, which is why I bought the movie from Amazon to revisit it once again. The movie still comes off as sweet and corny but I like the dialogue my friends like to watch it as a group. There are some funny parts as well. See more Farida J @RT05333533 04/03/2024 "Cleverly done" is the psychically channelled review I got for Graffiti Bridge. I LOVED Prince in this movie. The music is incredible, and its refreshing to pick a movie you don't have to prescreen first. The visuals are ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, possibly because it was filmed at the infamous Paisley Park studios! And anyone who notices rich audio with surround sound in mind might appreciate this film and understand how one Prince song in particular got etched into our childhood memories because of surround sound. Purchasing on youtube was simple and quick...I highly recommend this award-winning film to anyone wanting to have a good time. Enjoy! :) See more MrDonut @RT75251449 10/11/2022 Graffiti Bridge has an interesting style but the story here feels extremely weak. But the fact that this movie is supposed to be a sequel to Purple Rain just makes it more stupid. I'm sure Prince fans will like it, but for casual viewers, just don't bother with this one.
