It made no sense at all. I see people talking about the way it "flowed smoothly" well, the only place this movie could flow smoothly was if it was flowing in a circular motion down the toilet. Instead of ending, the movie just died because there was no logical way for it to continue. I do not know why Josh Hartnett agreed to star in it... He must've owed somebody something. There was SO much substance between the lines, and the character complexity left me with a morally obscure opinion of the characters that made me want to know them more. Unfortunately= it isn't enough to carry the lack of script. It's a small town Appalachia? opioid movie. I am not from there nor do I care about pill poppers et al. If you are of that milieu it might be of more interest but I simply had a hard time caring about any of the people in the flick, so wasn't invested. I AM glad I watched it but won't keep it for my collection nor would ever watch again. See more 08/18/2021 Living in an area much like the one depicted in the movie, I truly appreciated the Director's attention to detail and his sensitivity to all the characters. Great performances and plot twists are delivered believably, and with respect to the characters. This film flows beautifully over strong undercurrents of family loyalty, heartache, and hope for a different future as opposed to the usual schlock and grit. It was well worth my time watching it.
