Aimless David Rice (Hayden Christensen) has the ability to instantly transport himself to any place he can imagine. He uses that gift to globe-trot, living on money he steals by "jumping" into bank vaults. He's captured by the evil Roland Cox (Samuel L. Jackson), who knows how to keep David from jumping. David escapes and reunites with his high school crush, Millie (Rachel Bilson), then forms an alliance with fellow jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell) and prepares for mortal combat with Cox.

Actually enjoyed the globetrotting cat and mouse component. Hayden, Samuel and Jamie fed enough star power. Nice sci-fi action.

Jumper is good because the teleportation concept is such a strong sci-fi hook. Instant travel anywhere in the world is fun, seductive, and dangerous, and the movie has its best moments when it shows how that power changes action, escape, theft, and everyday life. The global scale gives the film a slick travel-thriller energy, moving quickly across cities, landmarks, and countries. Jamie Bell is easily one of the most interesting parts as Griffin. He brings more personality, edge, and history than David, and he makes the Jumper and Paladin conflict feel more alive. The mythology is thin, though. The idea of Jumpers being hunted by Paladins is interesting, but the movie barely explores it. Hayden Christensen is watchable enough, but David is not as compelling as the power itself. Jumper has good ideas and fun action possibilities, but it feels more like a franchise starter than a complete movie.

I mean this with my whole heart, this is one of my fav movies of all time. The hate was forced and if this movie came out in 2026 and had a Marvel logo slapped on the intro YouTubers would make videos stanning it for how down to earth it was and how we need more grounded stories like this.
