Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai is a tender-hearted love story about an upright young man who brings cheer, music and warmth into the life of a sweet-natured girl. For the innocent twosome, life is almost like paradise till fate intervenes. Separated by circumstances beyond their control, the girl is in a state of shock. Nathan J @NathanDirector 10h Rated: 7.6/10 ⭐️ I honestly love this; it captures early 2000s magic with a catchy soundtrack and star power. What Worked: • Hrithik brings insane charm, nailing his dual roles and that hook-step. • The masterpiece soundtrack totally hooked me. • Gorgeous island and New Zealand locations gave a vibrant scale. The Friction: • The doppelgänger twist honestly felt clichéd and stretched my belief. • The cartel thriller shift really dragged for me; I just wanted the film to focus on romance. • Ameesha’s character felt one-dimensional, spending too much time grieving. Verdict: I absolutely love this. Watch for a classic Bollywood romance. Skip if over-the-top doppelgänger plots annoy you. See more R T @Karnika Jun 9 Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai is a beautiful romantic movie with a great mix of love, emotions, and music. The story is engaging, and the songs are still memorable even today. Hrithik Roshan gave an outstanding performance in his debut role, and Ameesha Patel was also excellent. The movie has a special nostalgic charm and remains one of the most loved Bollywood romance films. A true classic that is enjoyable even after many years. Kaho Naa... This movie made Hrithik Superstar Overnight. and its his first Movie. See more 11/18/2018 Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai is a love story between a young aspiring musician and a daughter of a millionaire. It stars Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel as Rohit/ Raj and Sonia. The film begins with Rohit dreaming about becoming a big-time musician but then learning about the reality of his life; that he is a cars salesman living with a Christian couple and doing his end to help support his brother and himself. Sonia on the other hand comes from a rich family and is living her life care free. The two fell in love the moment they met. Even after being stranded on an island and having their love tested nothing could break the love connection between these two. After Rohit tragic death, Sonia is left grieving while encountering Rohit's doppelgänger. This film was a little too fast pace and overly dramatic. Rohit and Sonia, I thought, fell in love very fast without really getting to know each other. They had only had a few encounters in the past and they were already telling each other that they loved one another. Again, when Raj and Sonia met, Raj fell in love with Sonia right away without really knowing who she was. Also, the fact that Sonia ends up marrying Raj really baffled me because was she marrying him because she loved him or because he reminded her of her past lover. However, there were many comical scenes that made me laugh and the music and choreography I liked a lot. Furthermore, I thought that Hrithik Roshan did an excellent job in portraying the two different characters; Raj and Rohit. The overall story line I found interesting and new that I had not experienced before which I liked. It wasn't the classic love story where the family forbid it and then in the end they get married. As Ganti says films like these will be more successful; you want people to question what will happen next without them knowing what will happen. This film was similar to DDLJ in terms of this idea that love is worth waiting for. When Sonia's father forbids them from being together, Rohit returns Sonia and only will take her as a bride once he can provide an income for her. It is also similar to Kubhi Khushi Kubhi Gham in terms of the fact that social classes influenced people's lives and was a barrier against true love. Since the only reason Sonia's father did not want Rohit and Sonia to be together is because Rohit came from the working class while Sonia and her family were rich and an upper class family. As Ganti says this is a growing theme in Hindi film which came about to portray reality. We also see that just like in Kubhi Khushi Kubhi Gham when Sonia was in New Zealand she still kept her Hindustani beliefs. The movieâ(TM)s star couple is Hrithik Roshan (as Rohit, and later Raj), and Ameesha Patel (as Sonia). The cast also included Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Satish Shah, and Dalip Tahil. The film began with Rohit dreaming of becoming a renowned singer, however, the reality wasnâ(TM)t same when he woke up. Rohit was a poor orphan, who worked at a car shop as a salesman, to provide for his little brother, uncle, and aunt. One morning while was Rohit dropping his little brother to school, he came across Sonia, a rich spoiled girl who was unknown about the world. This was the beginning of their fate that kept bringing them together through numerous occasions. Eventually, they fall in love, but Soniaâ(TM)s father didnâ(TM)t approve of this relationship. To get her dadâ(TM)s approval Rohit promises to build himself and then marry her. Despite their fate trying to bring them together at the beginning of the movie, it did ultimately separate the couple, through Rohitâ(TM)s accident. This movie starts with a very fast paced storyline, however when Rohitâ(TM)s doppelganger Raj returns the movie builds completely on suspense. To add to that the songs bring more life to the movie. Sangita Gopal mentioned in one of her writing that âsong-dance provides a space inside which the characters of the text can be more deeply individualized than what the narrative would allowâ? (152, Gopal). This movie is a great example of that, as through its songs the movie narrated Rohitâ(TM)s passion for singing while communicating his love for Sonia. Later in the second half, the songs âEk Pal Ka Jeenaâ? introduces Raj, at the same time expresses the internal conflict of Sonia. Therefore, these songs not only describe the story but keeps you entertained and engaged in the movie. The movie shares a storyline with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, where a fatherâ(TM)s disapproval brings conflict in the love of their children. Yet different, as Rakesh Roshan through this movie followed a theme of rebirth and reappearance leading to revenge. This same theme was seen in the movies Khoon Bhari Mang, Krrish, and Karan Arjun, which were also directed by Rakesh Roshan. This rebirth works as a hope and chance that are given to the moral universe to correct itself, and that journey of the rebirth of the moral universe is what makes this movie so interesting.
