The use of illusions, cult themes, and supernatural imagery gives it a unique identity that separates it from more traditional horror films of its era. The performances are solid, and the investigation aspect of the story helps maintain suspense throughout. While the pacing can feel uneven at times, the film still manages to build tension effectively and deliver memorable moments without relying entirely on cheap scares. Overall, it’s an ambitious and entertaining supernatural thriller that may not work perfectly in every scene, but it deserves credit for trying something darker and more unusual. I rate it a 6/10. This is yet another example of an estrambotic tale, with an interesting premise, that fails to make any impression. The dated effects don't help the immersion, but the real problem is the waste of an interesting cast that feels used like puppets or props. Those in the cult of Barker might be lenient with this, even enthusiastic, but this is a very forgotten movie for a reason.
