A biodoc that manages to trace the ancient magic of Monk’s creativity without making any claim to understand where it comes from or what it means, that path doesn’t feel like much of a path at all.

It’s probably because she’s been so frequently filmed, so willing to not just appear on camera but to detail her art and the process behind it, that Monk in Pieces works as well as it does.

Monk In Pieces is a showstopper for the woman who stopped all of our preconceptions of what a show could be. It is achingly brilliant and needs to be stampeded to immediately in the direction of your choice.

For those approaching with no background of Monk’s work, it would certainly be a good primer, whether it leaves one wanting more or makes one realize her work is not to their taste.
