Critics Consensus

Outcome collapses under its own ambitions, playing as a garish, tonally erratic and heavy-handed satire that fumbles its intriguing ideas about stardom in an overlong and largely unfunny jumble of wasted talent.

With Hill as Reef’s abrasive lawyer, the film veers between crude and cuddly. Watch it for Reeves’ heartfelt reaction shots and Martin Scorsese’s small but perfectly played role. Go to Full Review

It’s hard to imagine this mumbling, shambling man holding multiplex masses in his thrall. As such, he’s a poignant void, but a void nonetheless, and even at a slim 84 minutes, Hill’s doleful film can’t keep us interested in his plight. Go to Full Review

Never believable. There's no emotional weight. Unconvincing and far-fetched. Go to Full Review

Maybe Jonah Hill is sorry for everything that he’s done. Maybe Outcome is the only way he knows how to express his apologies. Go to Full Review

Outcome is a film that starts and finishes at nearly the same place, with an 80 minute runtime - not enough encourages one to go through this turbulent experience within the bounds of Hollywood. Go to Full Review

palmatrh T @RT09341296 1d Don't let the low critic scores fool you. Outcome is one of the best-written films in years if you look past the surface comedy. The script brilliantly dramatizes Cicero’s conflict between expediency (utile) and moral integrity (honestum). Instead of typical Hollywood satire, it delivers a non-traditional, internal Hero's Journey. Keanu Reeves sheds his usual archetype to give a raw performance as a flawed man navigating the toxic, performative world of cancel culture. His descent into an emotional abyss—and his refusal to conform to a scripted apology—feels incredibly real. Mainstream critics missed the boat because the movie skewers the industry and ideological conformity they belong to. The emotional, heartfelt accountability at the end is extraordinary. Outcome is a rare, substantive film that respects the audience's intelligence. Highly recommended. See more Eric N @EricNix 2d I'm certainly in the minority when I say that I really enjoyed this film. There are some clunky bits, especially with the Jonah Hill lawyer parts, but, overall, it's an entertaining dark comedy/satire about fame and its trappings. As many people have commented, it's ironic that the lead is played by Keanu Reeves, who (according to most people) is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. By contrast, the character he plays in Outcome is one of the biggest self-centred jerks in Hollywood, so it's fun watching Reeves take on this part. In any case, even if it's just Hollywood pretension, I really enjoyed the heartfelt emotions, especially at the end of the movie. For me, the whole project was entertaining and enjoyable. If you go into it not expecting a whole lot, you'll likely be glad you went along for the ride. See more Michelle G @tediously_brief Aug 25 me before i watched outcome (2026): i've yet to meet a keanu reeves project i haven't enjoyed me after i watched outcome (2026): we had a good run See more Joel M @RT99301236 Aug 22 Do we really need a (satirical?) movie centered on the psychological burdens of an image-obsessed white man trying to avoid cancelation? Nah. Took multiple sittings to finish it, kept giving it a chance thinking it might arrive somewhere interesting, but ended up as an unnecessary watch. See more Susan D @RT06254015 Aug 16 Ugh! I tried to give this movie a chance, but had to stop watching after 30 minutes. The cast seemed to be coasting on prior, cinematic success, not bothering to make an effort. Pointless, vulgar, overdone. See more Tina I @RT08435138 Aug 12 I wish I had read the reviews before I bothered watching this awful movie. I really can't believe that any of these famous actors were in this. It's not at all funny & is such a waste of time. The only thing I enjoyed was Keanu Reeve's acting. I hung in there & kept watching because I was expecting it to get better or atleast have a good twist in the end, but nope!. In the end it was just a boring, bad film. I can't understand how anyone could find this movie funny. See more Read all reviews
