Rich L. @turnerfan77 Mar 24 Star Trek VI was a huge step up from V. It has a great who done it that kept my attention through out the whole film. I can’t believe I am about to type this but all the acting was good from everyone involved. The special effects were great for the time. For me this was my favorite since Star Trek II. I would definitely recommend checking this out if you haven’t seen this yet. It was a great send off for the original cast. While most of the cast are not amazing actors, they convey the tone of how time is running out for this crew effectively. Still, it’s a solid send-off for the original crew of the Enterprise. The makeup and costumes actually look good, even if the floating Klingon blood CGI feels like it’s out of a 90’s commercial for kid’s drinks. And while the cast is definitely getting a little long in the tooth, you can tell they’re still doing their best and happy to be there. I’m going to miss Kirk, Spock, and the gang, but I’m looking forward to seeing The Next Generation at the helm. Kirk doesn't seem like himself, and the same can be said for other staple characters. For me, the overall feel of the film feels off-kilter with sub-level CGI. The story itself was good, but as I said, the overall feel of the film makes it feel amateurish and different to the other Trek films, and that's not a compliment. It's hard to believe this film is made by the same director as Star Trek 2, a favorite for most. See more azeem h @Azeen Sep 24 This film needs to be seen for Shakespeare's endlessly quotable dialogue used in the best battle of any Star Trek films, The Battle of Khitomer. General Chang played by Christopher Plummer is easily the best thing about this film. Yet the old crew is great, the score is also really good and the direction especially the final battle is fantastic. Yes the film lulls but even then it' still watchable. This was the transition movie between original trek and the next generation as next gen had already had three successful seasons. As Michael Dorn's Worf is given a minor role. Essentially a Cold War allegory as the Soviet Union disbanded months after this film came out. Definitely a Trek classic. See more Read all reviews
