Trenesia G @RT45832332 Aug 23 This is one of my all-time favorite movies. It's stylistic and adventurous. The Past and present worldview made with sensational music. I loved the way the hero, his sidekick, and the jerk agent welcomed the singers and super excited fan to their group. The singing group, The Sorels is comprised of Robert Townsend, who became a director, producer as well as acting; Richard Lawson made 134 more movies; Mykelti Williamson made 128 (Forest Gump's Bubba) films and directed 7; Stoney Jackson did mostly television series. Willem Defoe, as usual, is outrageously good. The character he plays in this film feels like a preview of the Green Goblin. And, Defoe has made 164 films. "Tonight Is What It Means to Be Young," is a song I find myself humming years later. It's also a movie I put on to hear the music and see portions of the film in passing when I'm doing housework. See more Thomas F @RT00715355 08/26/2025 Did I watch the same movie as everyone else? I actually thought this was a parody at one point because I couldn’t believe how awful it was. One guy said it aged well too, what about the part when he punches her in the face to knock her out? Or when it was basically revealed that the reason she was kidnapped was to be raped? I wish I took a sip of beer for every cheesy one liner, so that I wouldn’t have remembered the second half of the movie.
